'S*** Just Got Real,' said Aerys - Robert's Rebel Yell (202.3)

Underestimation, Failure, Exile, and Poor Planning in Westeros

SPOILERS!!!

FOR ALL PUBLISHED BOOKS IN #GRRM'S A Song of Ice and Fire AS WELL AS ALL TELEVISED EPISODES OF HBO'S Game of Thrones...

Born amidst salt and smoke- Just off the Long Island Expressway- Beneath a bleeding star...

The opening conflicts of Robert's Rebellion have not gone the way Aerys The Mad would have thought they'd have gone, had he thought at all. All signs seem to point to a catastrophic lack of thinking by King Aerys II Targaryen.

The Mad King could have asked his advisors if burning and strangling noble Lords and demanding other noble Lords send him the heads of more noble Lords would result in a peaceful rule, but it's unlikely he did. Thus and so Rebels win a handful of victories over Targaryen Loyalists and Robert Baratheon becomes the face of a movement to change Westeros forever.

As both sides regroup from The Battle of The Bells, Lord Jon Connington of Griffin's Roost loses the Office of Hand to The King, his Lordship, and Griffin's Roost. Aerys sends for his son Rhaegar to return from his extended holiday and help out, and sends words to Tywin Lannister to enter the field and help the Iron Throne. Mace Tyrell, the Lord of Highgarden and Warden of The South digs into a siege of Storm's End that he probably hopes will last the duration of the conflict. Ned Stark and Jon Arryn save the alliance that Hoster Tully had made with Rickard Stark, while Robert gains victory and accolades in between sharing beds with young women that aren't Lyanna Stark.

Musings: baby names inspired by Game of Thrones; John reveals his future daughter's name; and the issue of who is older- Robb or Jon is put to rest... sort of.

The art for this episode is titled Lord of Griffin's Roost by Oppiana and more of her unique work can be found O'er Yonder...

The Princes That Were Promised are John and SeannieWan. Every week they tear apart Westeros and sift through the pieces to bring their Leal and Loyal Subjects the history of the Realm and The Known World from both George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and HBO's adaptation, Game of Thrones.
